Believe
This message is brought to you by Pastor Darryl Morrison

Main Scripture(s): Mark 9:14-36

Thrust Statement: I WANT TO BELIEVE, AND I WANT YOU TO BELIEVE.

Points:
So we must understand that when we believe, unbelief most likely is present as well.

The inspiration behind Believe:
-Don’t sit by waiting for something to inspire you to believe. Do something that shows you believe.

-Faith Action: Allowing Christ to inspire you to believe

Definitions of Belief and Unbelief:
- Believe: Πιστεύω commit unto, commit to (one's) trust, be committed unto, be put in trust with, be committed to one's trust, believer.

Pisteuo: "to believe," also "to be persuaded of," and hence, "to place confidence in, to trust," signifies, in this sense of the word, reliance upon, not mere credence. It is most frequent in the writings of the Apostle John, especially in the Gospel. (Pis-stew-O)

Peitho: "to persuade," in the Middle and Passive Voices signifies "to suffer oneself to be persuaded.

Pistis: "faith," is translated as "belief." Its chief significance is a conviction in respecting God and His Word and the believer's relationship to Him.

-Unbelief: ἀπιστία my want of faith and trust, unfaithfulness and faithlessness (of a person betraying trust). Weakness of faith (strengthening of unbelief), the littleness of faith, little faith.

Belief Begins By Battling Against Unbelief (v. 24)
- “Lord I believe, help my unbelief.”
